Here are the 2nd visit to the flood effected region in
andhra.
A team from Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam from Andhra visited the flood
effected areas in Mahabubnagar and Kurnool districts in Andhra.
Immediate help such as food and clothing were provided by other
organizations, but nothing beyond. The villagers are desperate to get
on with their livlihood but unable to do so as their homes and
agricultural land was washed away.
The initial step that was taken by Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam was to
assess the flood affected areas and decide what best can be done to
help the people beyond the food and clothing that they had recieved.
The Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam team surveyed 6 interior villages and
decided to help the people construct shelter homes to provide basic
amenities. These shelters will house about 50-80 people. Nithyananda
Dhyanapeetam will complete the construction of the shelters by Oct
26th, 09, and help them to overcome the trauma caused due to the
devastating floods. The team met with the local officials and
identified the places where shelter homes could be built.
